The Andy Warhol Museum / 13 June - 13 September, 2009

MoMA (Screening) / 3 March, 2011

This body of work looks to the archive of Andy Warhol’s earliest forays into film-based portraiture. Initially conceived as quotations, the original subjects of these film portraits re-perform these films 45 years later. Subjects include Billy name, Mario Montez, Ivy Nicholson, Ultraviolet, Bibbe Hansen, Penelope Palmer, Jonas Mekas, Sally Kirkland, Randy Bourschied, Steve Balkin, Taylor Mead, John Giorno and Mary Woronov.
The new works, captured on video, approximate the art-historical lighting, frame and playback speed of the originals.
