The Ivy Nicholson Project
2010 - present: short videos shot on Staten Island and photographs
Self-proclaimed “Kate Moss of the 1950s”, actress, model, mother and underground New York icon ivy Nicholson starred in many Warhol films in the mid 60s. Having made Staten Island her home since the mid 2000’s, she lives there with her two children, Gunther and Penelope Palmer. Captured within this photo story are a circulating cast of characters who drift in and out of ivy’s life, including an Andy Warhol look-alike, her grandchildren, and the late outsider artist Hoop. The short videos are thematically scripted around an album of 15 songs that Nicholson recorded in the 90s.
